Jimmie Dell (J. D.) Mardis, 67, died Sunday, July 28, 2019, at his sister's residence near New Albany. He was born on May 2, 1952, in Tippah County, the son of James Floyd Mardis and Macie Ophelia Cobb Mardis Burke. Jimmie was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, a self employed welder, and he loved to cook. He also enjoyed spending time with his kids, Rip and Concho. Survivors include one son, Jimmie Leon Mardis, (Ashley) of Houlka; two daughters, Rhonda Hardin and Janet Barkley, both of Union County; a brother, James Hal Mardis of Lake Village, Arkansas; four sisters, Katherine Austin of Union County, Quay Morris of Grenada, Hilda Kimbrell of Union County, and Chris Cheatwood of Potts Camp; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Larry Noble Mardis. Services will be on Wednesday at Glenfield Funeral Home in New Albany at 4:00 P. M. with Brother Brownie Towhill, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenfield Memorial Park. Visitation is from 2:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Matt West, Wayne Cole, Noah Mardis, Merle Kimbrell, Kyle Medlin, and Trey Barkley.
