Thomas Henry "Tommy" Whiteside, 85, was born in Union County, Mississippi, on July 15, 1935, the son of Ellis Ervin and Deana Bell Brownlee Whiteside. Mr. Whiteside was a warehouse supervisor for a pharmaceutical warehouse in Memphis until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army; he had served as a deacon in Temple Baptist Church in Olive Branch, Mississippi, and as a deacon in First Baptist Church of Calico Rock, Arkansas; and he was a current member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee. Tommy also coached the girls softball team at Temple Baptist Church; and he was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Cobb Whiteside, of Jackson, Tennessee; his daughter, Sandra Gail DuBose, and son-in-law, David, of Summertown, Tennessee; and three grandsons, Andrew Thomas DuBose, Matthew Paul DuBose, and Phillip James DuBose. Mr. Whiteside is predeceased by his parents; by four brothers, James, John, Ed, and Jimmie Whiteside; and four sisters, Eva Adair, Catherine Baker, Mary Etta Snipes, and Donnie Mae Gordon. Reverend Gary Snuffin will officiate the funeral service on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 12:00 P. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home, with burial following in Glenfield Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Andrew Thomas DuBose, Matthew Paul DuBose, and Phillip James DuBose; and Mike Whiteside, David Whiteside, Carey Cobb, and Ricky Cobb. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bailey and Billy Pannell. Visitation will be from 11:00 A. M. until 12:00 P. M. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Jackson, Tennessee, or to Temple Baptist Church of Olive Branch, Mississippi; or a charity of the donor's choice.
