James William Pope, born on June 4, 1953, in Pensacola, Florida, peacefully passed away on August 16, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County in New Albany, MS.
James had a fulfilling career as a pipe fitter. His dedication and expertise in his field were well-respected by all who worked with him. His hard work and commitment made him an invaluable asset to his profession.
Outside of work, James had a love for the outdoors. He embraced nature and enjoyed water skiing, which brought him immense joy. He also shared his passion by coaching softball teams in his community. James loved spending time with his family and cherished every moment they had together.
James is survived by his daughter Samantha Pope of Hickory Flat, who meant the world to him, His adored grandson, Easton Brown, His sisters Mary Jane Shoffner of Victoria, Shirley Hayes of Oxford, Brenda Knighton (Bobby Joe) of Myrtle and Sandra Holmes (Tim) of Hickory Flat. He is preceded in death by his parents LE Pope and Lula Virginia, his brothers Mike Pope, William Thomas Pope and Gary Dan Pope.
To honor James' life and celebrate the memories he created with those around him, a visitation will be held on Friday, August 18th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 19th starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pisgah Methodist Church Cemtery. Bro. Jason Howell will be officiating the services. During these events, James‘ loved ones will gather to pay their respects and share stories that highlight the impact he had on their lives.
Pallbearers will be Lee Rogers, Jerry Rogers, Jessie Shoffner, Bryon Nowlin, Daniel Pope and Bob Knighton.
James William Pope will forever be remembered as a devoted family man, a skilled professional, and an outdoor enthusiast. His legacy of love and kindness will live on through the memories shared by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace.
