Mrs. Gladys Prather passed away on January 10, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gladys Alene Prather, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN. Born in New Albany on May 9, 1958, Gladys touched the lives of many through her unwavering faith, compassion, and kindhearted spirit.
As a devoted housewife, Gladys dedicated her life to her family, living each day with grace and love. She found joy in the simple things, whether it was the comfort of her Bible, the laughter shared with her grandchildren, or the quiet moments spent with her cherished dogs and birds. Gladys was also an active member of Neely Baptist Church, where she drew strength from her faith and built lasting friendships within her community.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Gladys Moody (Donald); her seven beloved grandchildren: Abby Prather (John), Lucas Prather, Levi Moody, Heather Coker (Corey), Pamela Clements (James), and Terry Thomas; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Melba Stout (Edward); and her brother, Melvin Pannell (Francis). She is also survived by her special friends Rebecca Davis and Jimmy Tucker. Each of her family members carries with them the love and wisdom she imparted, ensuring her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Prather, her parents Buster Pannell and Gladys Pannell, her son Stephen Prather and grandson Donald Shane Moody.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM at Glenfield Funeral Home. A Celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday January 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Glenfield Funeral Home where family and friends will gather to celebrate Gladys' life and legacy.
Bro. Larry Harrison will be officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Lucas Prather, Rodney Yarbrough, Brent Littlejohn, Danny Moody, Tommy Hale and Colton Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Rogers, John Smith, Corey Coker and James Clemments.
In the loving memory of Gladys, we find solace in knowing that her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace, embraced by eternal love and light.
