Earl Connell Sr. , a beloved member of the New Albany community, has sadly passed away on October 17, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born on July 15, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland to William B Connell and Martha Bloom.
Earl had an illustrious career as an insurance agent for Alfa Insurance. He dedicated himself to serving his clients with integrity and compassion throughout his many years in the industry. Earl's commitment to his profession was deeply respected by his colleagues and cherished by his clients.
Education played a significant role in Earl's life. He graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he gained the knowledge and skills that would shape his successful career. Earl's thirst for knowledge was evident in everything he did.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Earl proudly served in the Marines. His dedication and bravery during his military service left an indelible mark on him and those who knew him best. Earl's loyalty and commitment to duty were truly admirable.
Beyond his work and military service, Earl had a rich tapestry of passions and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. An avid reader with an insatiable curiosity, he could often be found immersed in books of various genres. Earl was also a devoted sports fan with a particular love for Orioles Baseball and Mississippi's Ole Miss teams.
Car enthusiasts knew Earl as a true car buff. He appreciated the beauty and craftsmanship of automobiles and enjoyed attending car shows where he could admire classic cars up close. Music also held a special place in Earl's heart; he delighted in the timeless melodies of Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond.
Earl's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his surviving family members and friends who were touched by his kind spirit and warm demeanor. He is survived by his loving wife Leigh Ann Connell. He is survived by his daughters Michele Lynn Blazek(Steve), and Emily Cecilia Connell, and son Earl Charles Connell Jr, granddaughters Candice Marie Allgood and Eliza Connell and grandson Alexander James Connell and great-grandson Àedàn Allgood Doyle, brother William (Buzzy) Connell, brother Dennis (Pat) Connell, brother Robert (Bobby) Connell, brother Joseph Connell, sister Martha (Trudy) Perkins, sister Eileen (Penny) Seaman, sister Mary Brodowski, and sister Rose Rogalski. He is preceded in death by his parents William B Connell and Martha. Earl's family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His love and support were always unwavering and provided a strong foundation for his loved ones. Earl's legacy as a dedicated family man will forever be treasured.
Visitation services for Earl will be held on October 24th at Glenfield Funeral Home in New Albany. The visitation will begin at 5:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass to honor Earl's life will take place on October 25th at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church in New Albany. The mass will commence at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Glenfield Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Earl C Connell Jr, Steve Blazek, Alexander J Connell, Patrick Wooten, Symon Wooten and Stony Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Rosetti, Donnie Rosetti, John J Finn, Wyatt Weeks and All current and former ALFA insurance agents since 2005.
Earl Connell Sr. was a remarkable individual who exemplified dedication, kindness, and a zest for life. His gentle presence and loving nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply cherished and fondly remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Earl. The impact he made on this world lives on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created. May he rest in eternal peace.
