Pontotoc

Dorothy Jean Mardis, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on February 19, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on March 21, 1960, in Booneville, Mississippi, Dorothy loved deeply and unconditionally leaving a lasting impact on everyone she cherished.

Dorothy’s fondest memories were always spent with family. She loved gathering together and singing with her brother, Phil, on the keyboard. Playing board games—especially with her granddaughter, Mia—brought her great joy, as did playing and recording videos with her grandson and best friend, Asher. She cherished anytime spent with family, finding happiness in every shared moment.

Her greatest passion was caring for others; Dorothy gave selflessly, always ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She loved spending time and praying with her ladies group at Vineyard Ministries. When she was in good health, Dorothy possessed a remarkable talent for home renovations and carpentry. Above all, her favorite pastime was simply doing for those she loved. Her greatest accomplishment was her beautiful daughter and grandchildren.

Dorothy Jean Mardis is survived by her devoted daughter, Brittney Finley(Raynon)  her beloved grandchildren, Mia and Asher Finley; her brother, Jerry Mardis ( Vickie) her sister, Debra Pena (Robert); and a host of nieces and nephews. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit in their hearts, a testament to the love and joy she cultivated throughout her life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by: Leroy Mardis, May Mardis, Phil Mardis, Helen Pooler, Marilyn Ray, Robin Randle.
