Clarence Vardaman Thomas

Reverend C. V. Thomas, 94, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at his residence near New Albany.  He was born in Union County on February 26, 1923, the son of Joseph Daniel and Lillie Saylors Thomas.  Reverend Thomas was a retired minister of the gospel, having pastored for fifty-five years in Assembly of God Churches.  He started and pastored First Assembly of God church and Christian Assembly of God church in Corinth.  He was also a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army.Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2017, at 2 P. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home with Brother Mike Price and Brother Larry Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Adair Cemetery near New Albany.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 1 P. M. until service time at the funeral home.  Survivors include his wife, Maxine Thomas, of New Albany; one son, Michael Steve Thomas and wife, Brandi, of New Albany; one granddaughter, Marcy Thomas Gray of Pick Wick; one brother, Wayne Thomas of Olive Branch; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Lester Thomas and Gene Thomas; and four sisters, Vera, Mildred, Hazel, and Christine.
