Emmitt Benard Sanders, 85, died August 8, 2016, at New Albany Health and Rehab. He was born August 4, 1931, in Drew, Mississippi, the son of James Boyd Sanders and Ethel Gillis Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, a retired factory worker, and a U. S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Services will be held at 11 A. M., Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Glenfield Funeral Home, with Brother Bobby Cossey and Brother Mitchell Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Glenfield Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5 P. M. until 9 P. M.
Survivors include three sons, Jim Champion (Ann) of Myrtle, Terry Fair of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Tim Sanders (Sheila) of Myrtle; three sisters, Nora Mae Robbins, Linda Thomas, and Annie Ruth Gatlin; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jeannette Sanders; two sons, James Boyd Sanders and Rogie Lynn Sanders; his parents; and one brother, Clifton Sanders.
Funeral services are under the direction of Glenfield Funeral Home.
